Philip Allen Windler, age 60 of Paola, Kansas died early Saturday morning, on December 14, 2019. Phil was born September 22, 1959 in Paola, Kansas. He was the third of four children born to Loren Lee Windler and Joan (Jamison) Windler. He grew up in Fontana, Kansas where he attended school at Prairie View High School, graduating with honors in the Class of 1977. After high school, Phil attended Kansas State University and obtained a Bachelors of Science in 1981 and Masters of Business Administration in 1987. After obtaining his masters, he moved to South Carolina and worked for G&T Industries before taking a position with A.D. Expeditors. He worked his way up from Sales Representative to Operational Manager, before leaving the company and becoming Terminal Manager for Track Express services. Phil lived and worked in South Carolina until 2009, when he returned closer to home and worked for Kansas City Trapshooters Association as the Club Manager in Smithville, Missouri, before moving back to the family farm and finished his career working with Miami County. Phil loved to trap shoot and won several private and state competitions. In 1999, he was South Carolina State Champion in Class AA and was the 2005 High All Around- State Champion in trap shooting. On average, Phil shot over 95% in his amateur career. In 1995, the Amateur Trap Shooting Association has his best recorded average at 98.89% shot breakage for 900 rounds of singles. A near perfect score. Additionally, he loved to fish and hunt with family and friends. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, golfing and was never one to turn down a good card game, especially pitch. Pitch is the Windler family game of choice. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Block, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents Loren Lee and Joan (Jamison) Windler, grandparents Leon and Ida Windler, and grandparents Marvin & Grace Jamison. Survivors include brother David Windler of Tonganoxie and his wife Grace, and sons Daniel Windler and Robert Windler.; sister Pamela “Windler” Thompson of Paola and sons Gerald Thompson and Stacy Thompson.; and brother Fred Windler of Osawatomie and his wife Julie, and son Christopher Windler and daughter Cassandra Windler. Along with his South Carolina family, the Arvai’s and other family and friends. Cremation. A memorial visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, December 18, 2019 followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m. at Block Trinity Lutheran Church. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions are to Miami County Cancer Foundation or Block Trinity Lutheran Church and can be sent in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary-Crematory, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071. Family and friends are encouraged to post their memories and condolences on Phil's Tribute Wall.
