Peter John Burns, West Hollywood, CA, died March 7, 2017, in Olympia Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA. Peter was of the catholic faith. A rosary will be said at 6:30 P.M., Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Dengel & Son Mortuary followed by a visitation at 7:00 P.M. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, March 17, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 426 S. Cedar, Ottawa, KS. Interment 2:00 P.M., Friday, March 17, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Anderson County, KS. He was born August 27, 1961, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Mary Jeanette McDonald Burns Farver and John Robert Burns. Peter graduated from Ottawa High School, Ottawa KS, in 1979. He attended the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS. Peter worked in the advertising industry from the early 80s until February 8th of this year. He grew with the business and as technology advanced, he learned computer graphics and became an accomplished graphic artist. Peter is survived by his mother, Mary Jeanette Burns Farver, Little River, KS; uncle, Ronald and aunt Dorothy McDonald; aunt, Jean McDonald; cousins, Kathleen Croaker (Scott), Hugh T. McDonald (Michelle), Kara Makelke (Tom), Susan McDonald, and Patrick McDonald (Ann); step sisters, Jane Stewart and Anne Lightcap (Robert); step niece and step nephews, Ashley Cisetti (Steve), Nicholas and Isaac Lightcap. Peter’s biological family includes his mother, Virginia Galley; brothers, Guy (Kathy), Richard (Shellie), Mark, Matt (Kellie), and Mike (Sara); sisters, Tricia Regan (Dan) and Vicki Reiff (Troy); and many nieces and nephews. Peter is survived by many friends, especially, Greg Hugeback, David McKee, and Tom Etzel, whose friendships began in college and ran so deep they came to be with him during his final days. Peter was preceded in death by brother, Joseph Michael Burns; grandparents, Hugh and Mary Margaret McDonald; stepfather, Adrian M. Farver; uncle, Hugh J. McDonald; cousins, Jennifer McDonald and Karol Kay McDonald; biological father, Guy Galley Sr.; and sister-in-law, Denise Galley. Peter spoke often of how he treasured the times spent with his grandparents at their farm during his growing up years, his work and friends in Chicago, from the early 80s until 1996, when he was transferred to Los Angeles, where he has worked, lived and enjoyed until the present time. Peter loved movies and remembered actors, actresses, plots and details beyond measure. When asked how he could remember so much he would reply, “I don’t know, some people remember baseball games, I remember movies.” Peter was fun and witty. To know him was to love him. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, Kansas City, KS, or St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery.
