Percy Wilkes 1936-2013 Percy Wilkes, 77, Paola, Kansas, died September 22, 2013, at his home. Percy was born April 24, 1936, in Haskell, Oklahoma. He was one of eight children born to Bishop Jesse J. Wilkes and Daisy L. Wilkes. He was married to Joyce E. Dillard on February 20, 1957, in Merriam, Kansas. They lived their entire married life in Paola. He was employed by Taylor Forge Inc. of Paola for over thirty years and with his wife Joyce, owned and managed Wilkes Motors car lot from 1981 through 2008. He was also an Army veteran, serving in Germany and other locations from 1957 to 1959. Percy loved the Lord and was a member of The Church of the Living God in Olathe, Kansas, where his father served as Bishop for thirteen years. He enjoyed working on cars, traveling with his family, attending his grandchildren"s sporting and other school events, and visiting friends. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, his parents, and two brothers, Ira Wilkes and Leonard Wilkes. Percy is survived by his son Michael Wilkes (wife Sandra) of Paola; his daughter, Ruby Reynolds (husband Tom), also of Paola; seven grandchildren, Norman Myers, Sarah Conklin, Audrey Reynolds, Michael Wilkes, Michelle Wilkes, Rachel Reynolds, and Brandon Wilkes; two great-grandchildren, Brayden Conklin and Hunter Conklin; four brothers, Elder Harold Wilkes of Kansas City, Missouri, Elder Carl E. Wilkes (Wanda) of Shawnee Mission, Kansas, Jessie Wilkes (Mildred) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Willard C. Beard (Maggie) of Lewisville, Texas; and one sister, Lahoma Watson (Robert) of Kansas City, Kansas. Memorials can be made to the Miami County Cancer Foundation.
