Percy Lyle Jorgensen

March 10, 1931 — April 6, 2018

Percy Lyle Jorgensen, 87, of Louisburg, KS, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. The visitation will be on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Dengel & Son Funeral Home 120 S. Broadway, Louisburg, KS 66053. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Chapel Assembly of God church 840 N. Metcalf, Louisburg, KS 66053. Burial to follow with military honors in the Louisburg Cemetery. Percy was the youngest of three children born to Christopher and Ella Jorgensen on March 10, 1931. Percy was raised on a farm in Lake Preston, SD. Percy graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1949 and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1951. Percy attended training to become a Field Radio Operator, Wire Team Leader and Naval Gunfire Chief. Percy was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal with two Stars. Percy was united in marriage to Betty Jo Cannon on December 20, 1969. Percy and his wife Betty later built a home in Louisburg, KS where they resided for many years. Percy was a Police Officer in Lake Preston, SD for several years before becoming a Master Mechanic with Local 101 Union of Operating Engineers. Percy was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7348 and American Legion Post 250. He is survived by his wife Betty of the home, children, Tina and Dennis Fenoughty of Paola and Wayne and Leta Jorgensen of Paola, KS. He has two grandchildren that he was very proud of, Cayley Fenoughty and Colby (Audrey) Fenoughty and his sister, Joyce Bauer of Appleton, WI. Percy was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lois Rolsma.
