Peggy L. Pottorff, 83, of Wellsville, Kansas, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Wellsville Retirement Community. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Mrs. Pottorff will lie in state from 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 27, 2016, to the service hour where the family will meet with friends from 6:30 to 7:30 P.M., at the mortuary. Interment Wellsville Cemetery, Wellsville, Kansas. Peggy was born Friday, November 25, 1932, in Vernon County, Missouri, the daughter of Roy and Loubelle (Leatherman) Yokley, Sr. She lived in Kansas City, Missouri, moving to Wellsville in 1958. She graduated from Liberal High School in Liberal, Missouri, with the class of 1950. Peggy was united in marriage with Gilbert “Pete” Pottorff, Jr. September 3, 1950, in Hannon, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cheryl Elias; five brothers, Eldon, Jake, Charles, Fred, and Roy Yokley Jr.; and three sisters, Alma Rumph, Loretta Danley, and Erma Dick. Survivors include her five children, Nancy Warren and husband Joe of Edgerton, Karen Thorne and husband Doug of Lebo, Keith Pottorff and wife Laurie of Gardner, Brian Pottorff and wife Trisha of Warrenton, Missouri, and Kimberly Anglemyer and husband Kris of Los Angeles, California; two sisters, Ella Yount of Independence, Missouri and Shirley Smith and husband John of Blue Springs, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Kathy Yokley of Nevada, Missouri, and Wanda Yokley of Missouri. Peggy was a devoted homemaker and also employed with Sears as a sales clerk in Ottawa from 1969 to 1995, and Wal-Mart Distribution Center as a freight clerk from 1995 to 2004. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, Wellsville, and American Baptist Women. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, flowers, and was known to be a very good cook and excellent baker. Above all, she delighted in spending time with her family and grandchildren.
