Peggy J. Steffen, 83, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Richmond Healthcare & Rehabilitation. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. Peggy was born September 26, 1937, at Michigan Valley, Kansas, the daughter of Woodrow W. and Nina V. (Ogle) Watts. She was a longtime Kansas City, Missouri resident, graduating from Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Missouri with the class of 1955. Peggy was united in marriage to Heinrich Steffen in 1968 at Colorado Springs, Colorado. They later divorced. She was a lifelong homemaker, a very loving person who loved spending time with her family. Peggy loved history, especially Kansas and Civil War history. She enjoyed thrift shopping and animals. Peggy was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church in Kansas City, Missouri. She also attended Princeton Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Toby Watts and Richard Watts. Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Steffen of Kansas City, Missouri; and three sisters, Betty (John) White of Margate, Florida, Karen Fishburn of Lawrence, and Bonnie (Duane) Pedrow of Ottawa. The family suggests memorial contributions to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
