Peggy Jo Bien was born Wednesday, July 6, 1949, in Missoula, Montana. She was the daughter of Thomas Gerald and Shirley Rose (Wilken) Milburn. While still a child, Peggy moved with her family from Polo, Missouri, to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home, until her death Monday, August 1, 2005, at the age of fifty-six years. Peggy graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1967. For the past twenty-eight years to present, she was employed by Honeywell, in Johnson County, Kansas, as a Manufacturing Engineer Coordinator. Honeywell was formerly known as Bendix-King, Allied Signal, and King Radio. In the 1960's and 1970's, she worked ten years at H.D. Lee in Ottawa. Peggy enjoyed attending Ottawa Bible Church. She was a charter member of Ottawa 600 Club; member and board member of Ottawa Women's Bowling Association, and, in fact, bowled in Ottawa for thirty years; member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Ottawa; past Ottawa High School Booster Club member; and, past member of Eugene Field Parent Teacher's Association. She liked being involved and always participated in whatever task was needed. Peggy was a beautiful person, a genuine friend, and devoted mother, who dearly loved being Emma Rose's grandmother. She liked to crochet, was an excellent seamstress, and also enjoyed canning in the summertime. She enjoyed walking her dog and always had fun shopping. On September 9, 1967, Peggy was united in marriage with Rick Bien at Ottawa. They were later divorced. Peggy is survived by her daughter, Michelle Renea Stottlemire and her husband, Tony, of Rantoul, Kansas; two brothers, Dale E. Milburn and his wife, Judy, of Burlington, Kansas, James David Milburn of Shawnee, Kansas; and granddaughter, Emma Rose Stottlemire of Rantoul, Kansas. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Judith Ann Milburn, and an infant sister. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Ottawa at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2005. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Bien at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday, where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Friday evening.
