Pearl Marie Holloway, 83, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014, at Vintage Park at Ottawa Assisted Living Center. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 26, 2014, at Mt. View Cemetery, Richland, Missouri. Family will meet with friends at 5:00 to 6:00 P.M., Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Pearl was born Wednesday, January 7, 1931, in Purvis, Missouri, the daughter of John Wesley and Rosa Ellen (Scott) Smith. At two months of age her mother passed away. Pearl was raised from that day forward by her aunt and uncle, Emma Edna (Scott) and Walter J. McCasland. As a young child, Pearl was baptized into the Assembly of God Church of Excelsior, Missouri. She lived in Kansas City, Kansas, since 1952, moving to the Centropolis area in 1988 where she lived until 2010, moving to Ottawa. Pearl was united in marriage with Ernest Madison Holloway September 7, 1946 in Olathe, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents; loving aunt and uncle who raised her, Emma and Walter McCasland; infant brother, Huey George Smith; brother, Johnnie Elmo Smith; two sisters, Nellie Mae Barbee, and Martha Ellen Jeffries; and two grandchildren, Ronnie Fishback, and Kathren Holloway. Survivors include her three children, Earnie Holloway and wife Mary of Bonner Springs, Kansas, David Holloway and wife Debbie of Centropolis, and Belinda Holloway of Ottawa; two stepchildren, William Holloway of McLouth, Kansas, and Kathryn Holloway Tankersley of Saracuse, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Pearl was a homemaker who’s first and foremost interest in life was her family and the time they spent together. In the early 1960’s she worked at Duggins Laundry & Dry Cleaning as a counter girl and did alterations. In the 1970’s and 1980’s, she and her husband owned and operated P & E Excavating of Kansas City, Kansas.
