Pearl Josephine Seyler was born August 6, 1909, at Eudora, Kansas. She was the daughter of Fred and Lydia (Haas) Bartz. In 1930, she moved to the LeLoup area, where she made her home until her death Wednesday, October 2, 2002, at the age of ninety-three years. Pearl graduated from Eudora High School with the class of 1928. She was a lifelong homemaker. In the late 1940's and early 1950's, she worked at the Sunflower Ammunition Plant in DeSoto, Kansas. Mrs. Seyler was of the Methodist faith. Pearl enjoyed all her homemaking skills, especially cooking. Her greatest enjoyment, however, was spending time with her husband. On November 18, 1930, Pearl was united in marriage with Edward Benton Seyler, at Ottawa, Kansas. He survives of Ottawa. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothea Evans of Lawrence, Kansas, and, several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, George Bartz and Raymond Bartz. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2002. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Scott Dickinson, Cherry Street Wesleyan Church. IN STATE: Mrs. Seyler will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Thursday to the service hour. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
