Pauline Grace Polly Scott, age 95, of Ottawa, Kansas, died at Ottawa Retirement Village on Saturday, October 13, 2012. She was born on Sunday, November 19, 1916 in Princeton, Kansas, the daughter of James Henry and Audrey Mabel (Tharp) Martin. She lived in Richmond, Colony, Kansas City, Wichita and Emporia, all in Kansas before moving to Ottawa in 1949. Polly graduated from Colony High School with the class of 1934 and Ottawa Business College in 1936. She was a homemaker and worked seventeen years for Fogle Quarry as a bookkeeper in the 1960’s and 1970’s and as a waitress at the L&L Café in the 1980’s. During World War II she worked in Kansas City assembling MASH units. For more than twenty five years Polly and her husband George ran Scott’s Drive-In Restaurant in Ottawa. Polly was a member of First Christian Church in Ottawa, serving as treasurer, historian and Deacon and a former member of Eastern Star. On Friday, February 13, 1942, Pauline was united in marriage with George Dana Scott at Baldwin City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 30, 1978. She is survived by her: Son - Lowell G. Scott and his wife, Kristeen, of Ottawa, Kansas; Son - Lyle M. Scott and his wife, Marcia, of Paola, Kansas; Son – Lynn W. Scott and his wife, Linda, of Wichita, Kansas; Daughter – Jewel D. Scott of Kansas City, Missouri; Daughter – Carol A. Scott Trettin and her husband, James, of Bettendorf, Iowa; Brother - Lowell J. Martin and his wife, Waneta, of Newbury Park, California; Granddaughter – Rebecca L. Scott of Leawood, Kansas; Grandson – Mark L. Scott of Ottawa, Kansas; Grandson – Eric D. Scott of Ottawa, Kansas; Grandson – Jeremiah J. Scott of Wichita, Kansas; Grandson – Nehemiah L. Scott of Wichita, Kansas; Grandson – Jedidiah F. Scott of Paola, Kansas; Several Nieces and Nephews. She is preceded in death by her: Husband – George D. Scott; Parents – James H. and Audrey M. Martin and Daughter – Judy P. Scott. SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 18, 2012 at Dengel & Son Mortuary. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Scott at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday to the service hour where the family will meet with friends 7:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday evening.
