Paula Marie Smith

Paula Marie Smith, 67, of Burlington, Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at Coffey County Hospital, Burlington, Kansas.

Family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., Friday, August 18, 2023, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.

Paula was born Wednesday, October 5, 1955, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Kenneth and Carol (Sellers) Mille.

She lived in Independence, Missouri for twelve years before moving to Burlington, Kansas where she resided since 2016.

Paula graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1975.

She was united in marriage on February 4, 1989, in Phoenix, Arizona, to David Smith. He survives of the home.

Paula worked as a seamstress for H.D. Lee in Ottawa, Kansas, as an assembler for King Radio in Ottawa, Kansas, and as a deli operator assistant for Pete’s Convenience Store in Burlington, Kansas.

She was a world traveler with her husband during his military career. Paula was a former member of Sacred Heart Church, Ottawa, Kansas. She loved her cats, enjoyed fishing, coloring books, word searches, and reading. She especially cherished her family and grandchildren.

Paula was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Carol Mille.

Survivors include her husband David; sons Stephen Reed of Garnett, Kansas and Jereme Reed of Rim Rock, Arizona; brothers Mark Mille (Judy) of Ottawa, Kansas and Kenny Mille (Darlene) of Pomona, Kansas; sisters Brenda (Mille) Prochaska (Bill) of Inwood, Iowa and Patricia (Mille) Sexton (Lonnie) of Centropolis, Kansas; four grandchildren Ethan Reed, Victoria Reed, Izabel Reed, and Alexis Reed; two great grandchildren Marley Reed and Katarina Reed; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
