Paul Shields

Paul C. Shields, age 67 of Paola, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday April 10, 2010. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Paul Shields Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home 305 N Pearl Paola, Kansas 66071, or to a charity of your choice. Paul was born on April 11, 1942 in Barton County, Missouri to Ralph and Leila Shields. He grew up in the Kansas City area and graduated from Southeast High School in 1960. He attended Kansas City Junior College and MU. He married the love of his life, Susan Keeler, in Kansas City, Missouri on October 5, 1963. They were blessed with four children. He and his wife moved away from Kansas City to rural Paola 17 years ago, and soon after Paul retired from the Honeywell Corporation with over 25 years of service as a purchasing agent and manager in the Aerospace Aeronautic department. Paul enjoyed the outdoors, and he found his spirituality in nature. He enjoyed working with his hands and was very active in his children"s sporting events. Paul was his family"s definitive hero. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are his wife Susan of the home, daughter Kristin Shields of Shawnee, KS, son Michael Shields and fianc" April/Amber Wilmes of Overland Park, KS, son Andy Shields of Tulsa, OK, son James and wife Kathy Shields of Blue Springs, MO, and five grandchildren: Jordan, Ashley, Lauren, Grant, and Sophie; one brother, Ralph Shields of Pembroke, Maine, and two sisters, Kristin Rolfe of Olathe, KS and Lena Wright of Garfield, Arkansas.
