Paul J. Coolidge, 68, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Olathe Medical Center. Cremation is planned. Paul was born Saturday, March 5, 1949, in Seymour, Indiana, the son of Rev. Curtis “C.C.” and Ada (Katchinska) Coolidge. He was a Lenexa and longtime Overland Park, Kansas resident. In 1992, Paul moved to Ottawa, where he made his home until his death. He attended Kansas City College Bible School and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in Overland Park. Paul was united in marriage to Shelby S. Murray March 24, 1979. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his three children, Sean Coolidge and wife Elizbeth of Pomona, Kimberly Anderson and husband Kevin of Lawrence, and Curtis Coolidge and wife Kristen of Overland Park; three siblings, Calvin Coolidge of Shawnee Mission, Ellie Dishaw and husband Dale of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Ruth Masden of Merriam; three grandchildren, Jadyn Coolidge, Olivia Coolidge and Gabby Foley; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, C.C. and Ada Coolidge. He worked in the trucking industry many years, including Yellow Freight. He was employed for 16 years with Eagle Inter Mobile/Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail yard in Kansas City, Missouri. Paul later worked 6 years for American Eagle Outfitter in Ottawa, retiring in 2009. Paul was a movie buff, well-informed about current events, an avid reader, very social and active on Facebook. He was quick-witted and had a great sense of humor. He loved his family and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
