Paul D. Arnett, age 62 of Pomona, Kansas died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Ransom Memorial Hospital in Ottawa, Kansas. He was born on Tuesday, September 19, 1950, in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Philip and Cleota (Bair) Arnett. Paul lived in Pomona, Kansas, moving to Wilson, Kansas from 1983 to 1997, returning to Pomona, Kansas in 1998. He graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1968. In 1977 he graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in wildlife management. On August 29, 1970, Paul was united in marriage with Mary Flakus in Pomona, Kansas. Paul worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from 1977-1994, attaining the rank of project manager. He owned and operated a lumberyard in Wilson for one year and worked as a carpenter in Lawrence for All Service Maintenance. He was a volunteer firefighter for Pomona and Wilson for thirty years, and he was also on the Pomona and Wilson City Council. Paul was a hunter education instructor for thirty years in Pomona and Wilson. He served in the United States Army from 1969-1975 attaining the rank of specialist 5. Paul was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and wood working in his spare time. He is survived by his: Wife-Mary Arnett of Eudora, Kansas; Daughter-Katina Larsen and her husband, Keith, of Pomona, Kansas; Daughter-April Smith and her husband, Donald, of Pomona, Kansas; Daughter-Rebecca McCue and her husband, John, of Hutchinson, Kansas; Grandchildren-Mira McCue, Brandon Larsen, Dalton Smith, Dakota Smith; Sister-Linda Robbins and her husband, Leonard, of Pomona, Kansas; Sister-in-law-Betty Arnett of Memphis, Tennessee and Many Nieces and Nephews. His is preceded in death by his Parents-Philip and Cleota Arnett and a Brother-Kenneth Arnett. SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Arnett at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Friday, to the service hour where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday. CEMETERY: Inurnment will be held at a later date. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to the Paul D. Arnett Memorial Fund c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
