Patsy Sheldon

Patsy Ruth (Patterson) Sheldon died Saturday, September 4, 2010, in Ottawa. Graveside Inurnment Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa with the Rev. Tim Soule officiating. She was born December 2, 1927, in Waycross, Georgia. She was the daughter of Ruth (O’Connor) Patterson Hardy and T. R. Patterson. She graduated from Ottawa High School in 1945. She married Edwin M. Sheldon on March 19, 1948, in Ottawa. She was a homemaker most of her life. She co-owned a retail children’s wear store (Young Place) with her sister, Rose Stephenson, from 1970 to 1975. She was a member and elder of Westminster Presbyterian Church, and served as a Friends of the Library book sorter for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an infant grandson, Daniel Sheldon. She is survived by a daughter, Amy Cousineau, of Highland, California; four sons, Eddie “Tad” Sheldon, Ottawa; Stanley Sheldon, Shawnee; Jeffrey Sheldon, McCall, Idaho; Sam Sheldon, Ottawa; sister, Rose Stephenson, Ottawa; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her body was cremated. The family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church or to Midland Hospice or to Friends of the Library, in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
