Patsy Mae Harper was born Thursday, March 5, 1931, at Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Roy and Ruby (Lyons) Brown. Pat lived in Ottawa from 1931 until 1952; Kansas City, Missouri from 1953 until 1958; Overland Park, Kansas from 1959 until 1980; Mandeville, Louisiana from 1980 until 1989; and Ottawa, Kansas from 1989 until 1993, moving to Granbury, Texas in 1994. In 1998, she returned to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home until her death Wednesday, June 8, 2005, at the age of seventy-four years. Patsy graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1949, and attended Ottawa University from 1949 until 1951. In 1955, she graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Ottawa, Kansas, and St. Luke's Alumnae Association. Patsy worked as a registered nurse following graduation at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, for several years. Later, she was an office nurse for St. Luke's Hospital Surgeons until 1967, at which time she became a fulltime homemaker. Patsy was a compassionate person and totally devoted to caring for people. She loved spending time with her family and visiting with her many friends. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing golf and was former president of Ottawa Country Club Ladies' Golf. She also enjoyed card games, Yatzee, and Bridge, and traveling with her husband. On September 12, 1954, Patsy was united in marriage with John W. Harper at Ottawa, Kansas. He survives of their home. She is also survived by her son, John M. Harper of Los Angeles, California, and four sisters, Maxine Lichtenberger of Ottawa, Velma McCrary of Corpus Christi, Texas, Irene Warner of Ottawa, and Bonnie Harsh of St. Joseph, Missouri. Mrs. Harper is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roy Brown, Jr., and two sisters, Vivian Harder and Berniece Evans. SERVICES: Graveside inurnment services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa . OFFICIATING CLERGY: IN STATE: Mrs. Harper has been cremated.
