Patrick L. Elwood

Patrick Elwood age 47, of Overbrook, Kansas left us on Saturday, January 1, 2011 at Skaggs Regional Medical Center in Branson, MO. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the Bucyrus Methodist Church. Burial to follow in the Bucyrus Cemetery, Bucyrus, KS. Visitation will be from 5:00 " 8:00 p.m. January 5, at the Penwell " Gabel Paola Chapel, Paola, KS. Pat was born March 18, 1963 in Olathe, Kansas to Gerald O. and Doris M. (Porter) Elwood. He graduated from Louisburg High School in 1981. He worked for Honeywell as a maintenance technician for several years. In 2001 he started Elwood Construction with his brother Mike, remodeling homes and doing custom tile work. He took great pride in the work that he produced. He enjoyed family vacations and helping others. He was a wonderful dad and loved his family very much. Pat was also a good son, brother, and friend. He is preceded in death by his grandparents; and a brother, Michael Elwood. Pat is survived by his wife, Shelby; his parents, Gerald O. and Doris M. Elwood of Bucyrus, KS; two daughters, Susan, 21, of Bentonville, AR, and Danielle, 16, of the home; two step-children, Katie Vulgamore, 24, Nicolas Vulgamore, 22, both of Wellsville, KS; three sisters, Rita Richards and husband Weaver of Cleveland, MO, Linda Town and husband Mick of Somerset,KS; Cheryl Dulaney and husband Mark of Bucyrus; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. All of whom will miss him greatly. Pat left the ultimate gift by being an organ donor. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Danielle Elwood College Fund.
