Patricia Ann Hampson, age 81, of rural Osawatomie, Kansas, died Friday, March 9, 2018 at her home. Pat was born July 15, 1936 at Kansas City, Kansas. She was the oldest of three children born to Harold Charles and Margaret Rose (Johnston) Bruce. She grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Shawnee Mission High School with the Class of 1954. Pat and Cletus Gene Hampson were united in marriage on April 23, 1954 at Monticello, Kansas. They became the parents of four children. While Cletus was in the military, they made their home in Germany. Their two sons were born in Germany. They moved to Overland Park in 1960 and lived there until 1966. At that time, they moved to rural Osawatomie. They remodeled and made their home in the Fairview School of rural Osawatomie. Their two daughters were born in Kansas City. Pat worked for the Osawatomie State Hospital from 1979 until she retired in 1996. She worked in the maintenance department taking care of all the re-upholstering. Pat was an excellent seamstress. She was a master quilter, having made quilts for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, as well as for many friends. She was a member of the Tuesday Quilters which consisted of twelve women who were hand quilters. She was also a member of the Osa-Lane Stitchers and the Miami County Quilt Guild. When Pat wasn’t quilting you could find her traveling, antiquing, reading, or working crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Cletus who died May 3, 2015. She is survived by her children Cletus Gene Hampson, Jr., (Nancy) of rural Olathe and Dean Hampson (Marcella) of Lane, Tricia Culbertson (Johnny) of rural Lane, and Julie Hampson of Seattle, Washington; one brother Harold Charles “Chuck” Bruce, Jr. and one sister Janet Bruce-Kelsey; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
