Patricia Nelson

Patricia Elizabeth Nelson, age 53, of Ottawa, Kansas passed away at Ransom Memorial Hospital on April 15, 2019. Tricia was born on December 17, 1965 in Belleville, Kansas. Tricia attended and graduated from Lakemary Center in Paola and then entered their residential program. Over the years, she had been in several programs for individuals with disabilities following the moves of her mother and step-father. For the past 21 years, she lived at COF’s Tyson House in Ottawa, Kansas. Tricia loved listening to music, especially country western. She enjoyed her large collection of music boxes and would listen to them before going to bed. In her younger years, she was an active participant in the Special Olympics and has many medals to show for her accomplishments. A special memory was at a particular race in Pratt, Kansas. She was behind and after hearing the crowd’s cheers, she sped up and passed a couple of the racers to come in first. The crowd really cheered at this. Tricia is survived by her mother and step-father, Jeanette and Dennis Norton, Paola, Kansas; brother Mark Nelson and wife Karen of Paola; three nieces, Stephanie (Jake) Conner, Paola; Natalie (Tyler) Ketzner, Louisburg, Kansas; Mallorie (Sheldon) Jacks, Overland Park, Kansas; three great nieces, Jamie and Josie Conner and Maren Ketzner, along with many other family members and friends. The family suggests memorial contributions to Tyson House-COF in Ottawa, Kansas.
