Patricia L. "Pat" McFarland, 88, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017. Funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M, Thursday, November 9, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 4:00 – 5:45 P.M. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment Saint Columbia Cemetery in Gardner, Kansas. Pat was born Wednesday, June 19, 1929 in Gardner, Kansas, the daughter of Henry Raymond and Bonnie Pauline (DeNoon) Green. She grew up in Gardner, Kansas, moving to Ottawa in 1952. Patricia was united in marriage to Fred J. McFarland August 28, 1948, at Gardner, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 21, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bonnie Green; daughter, Kathy McAdoo; granddaughter, Kathy Bolen; sisters, Lois Corbin and Beverly Mapes; and brother, Larry Green; daughter-in-law, Kathi McFarland. She is survived by her seven children, Nancy Machnicki and husband John of Ottawa, Frank McFarland and wife Diana of Peoria, Arizona, Julie Bolen and husband Dan of Emporia, Mark McFarland and wife Theresa of Emporia, Mary McFarland of Decatur, Georgia, John McFarland and wife Rebecca of Princeton, and Susan Harrison and husband Richard of Omaha, Nebraska; siblings, James Green of Peoria, Arizona, Roy Green and wife Dixie of Forsyth, Missouri, Ginger Sullentrop and husband John of Sunrise Beach, Missouri; son-in-law, Bob McAdoo and Susan Ward of Nokomis, Florida; twenty-eight grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Zig Zag Sewing Club, General Edward Hand Chapter NSDAR, Mayflower Society, Sweet Adelines and the Ottawa Promenaders Square Dance Club. Pat was a homemaker and worked from 1947 to 1948 for the Gardner Post Office and twenty-five years for Franklin County as Deputy County Clerk from 1969, retiring in 1993. She was an avid Pinochle player and a wonderful cook.
