Paris Frank Spooner, age 78, of Pomona, Kansas, died Friday, September 26, 2003, at Bay Pines Veterans Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was the son of the late Jason Spooner and the late Anna (Mason) Spooner. Mr. Spooner was a lifelong resident of Franklin County, Kansas. He attended Lawrence Public School and later attended Chilocco Indian School in Newkirk, Oklahoma. He was a heavy duty equipment operator for Rickey Construction, and Hamn, Clarkson, and Daniels Construction Company. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946 and was awarded the Purple Heart. On July 8, 1950, Barney was united in marriage with Cecillia Morrow. They divorced in 1986. On November 7, 1992, he was united in marriage with Betty Jo (Pitzer) Shelley in Pomona. She preceded him in death. He is survived by his two daughters,Cathy Spooner-Goodman of Ozawkie, Kansas and Rose Rice of Ottawa, Kansas. Two sons, Paris (Bubby) Spooner of Sarasota, Florida,and Jason Spooner of Verdi, Kansas. Two sisters, Betty Corman of Lawrence, Kansas and Shirley Patterson of Lawrence, Kansas. Two brothers, Wray Spooner of Lawrence, Kansas and Paul Spooner of Denver, Colorado. He was preceded in death by: his parents, his wife two infant children and two sisters. SERVICES: Memorial graveside services will be held at Muncie Cemetery, Ottawa, 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2003. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Matt Benorder. IN STATE: Mr. Spooner has been cremated. CEMETERY: Muncie Cemetery in Chippewa Hills, Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Franklin County Cancer Society, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
