Owen Paxton

Owen V. Paxton, 55, of Ottawa, Kansas died on Saturday, February 28, 2009, at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, surrounded by his family. He was born on Friday, December 11, 1953, in Taos, New Mexico. He was the son of George and Ferne (Wiley) Paxton. Owen grew up in Parkville, Missouri, later moving to Bonner Springs, Kansas, and Ottawa in 1989. Owen graduated from Bonner Springs High School with the class of 1971. In the 1970's, he worked as head syrup cook for Richardson's Corp. in Bonner Springs; twelve years as a furniture refinisher for Antique & Furniture Refinishing in Johnson County, Kansas; and as a metal fabricator for Fashion, Inc. of Ottawa, in 2001. On June 9, 2006, Owen was united in marriage with Carla O’Connor in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home. Survivors include: Wife-Carla Paxton of the home Mother-Ferne (Wiley) Paxton of Kansas City, Kan. Daughter-Melissa Mears of Flippin, Ark. Stepdaughter-Airen O'Connor of the home Stepdaughter-Dawn Good & husband, Chris, of Garnett, Kan. Stepson-Dustin O'Connor of Ottawa, Kan. Brother-Dennis Paxton & wife, Theresa, of Pomona, Kan. Brother-Steven Paxton & wife, Mary, of Denver, Colo. Brother-Brian Paxton & wife, Jean, of Kansas City, Kan. Sister-Shawn Paxton of Kansas City, Kan. Grandchild-Tristan Owen Hayes of Flippin, Ark. Grandchild-Emma Grace Good of Garnett, Kan. Grandchild-Emma Bailey Mears of Flippin, Ark. He was preceded in death by: Father-George Paxton SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2009. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Paxton at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Friday to the service hour where the family will meet with friends at 5:30 Friday evening prior to the services. CEMETERY: Mr. Paxton will be cremated following services. Private family inurnment at Central Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas, will be at a later date.
