Orren A. Altic

Orren A. Altic, 94 of Ottawa, Kansas, died Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. The family will meet with friends from 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, December 31, 2015, at the mortuary. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Centropolis, Kansas. Orren was born Saturday, April 9, 1921, in Centropolis, Kansas, the son of David Ammon and Pearl Arbelle (Oyler) Altic. He was a lifelong Franklin County resident, moving into Ottawa in 1953 from the Centropolis area. Orren graduated from Kaub School and attended Appanoose High School, both in Franklin County. Orren was united in marriage with Wanda R. Mealman August 21, 1940, at Pleasant Grove, Kansas. She survives of their home. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Pearl Altic; daughter, Orrlea Dian Downey; brothers, Ralph Altic and Bob Altic; sisters, Gladys Spigle, Geneva Garich, Lillie Lewis, Lucy Fritzel, Alpha Pegg and Ruby Jansen; an infant brother and an infant sister. He is also survived by daughters, Donna Bell Smith of Topeka, Kansas and Connie Louise Morris and husband Pat of Maricopa, Arizona; sons, David Lee Altic and wife Shirley of Ottawa, Michael Orren Altic and wife Debbie of Ottawa and Randy Lynn Altic and wife Jayne of Ottawa; sixteen grandchildren, thirty-six great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. Orren was a cattleman, loving cattle and pigs, and also owned and operated Altic Truckline, retiring in 2007. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and when weather permitted he enjoyed sitting on the porch swing. He belonged to the Centropolis Baptist Church and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa.
