Opal Maxine (Hudson) Farrell, age 82, of Wellsville, Kansas., died Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at the Wellsville Manor Care Center in Wellsville. She was the daughter of the late David Hudson and the late Lola (Gaddis) Hudson. Opal grew up in LeLoup and Ottawa, living most of her life in Ottawa. She was a homemaker working part-time as a waitress at Lous Cafe (later Wills Cafe) and during the summer months helped her aunt and uncle (Ralph Pinkie & Goldie Langdon) with their concession stand during baseball games held at Forest Park in Ottawa. Opal and her husband owned and operated the Blue Room Tavern for several years, and after her husbands death Opal worked as a waitress at the Hill House and in the deli at Pence`s IGA in Ottawa until her retirement. On December 24, 1938 Opal was united in marriage with Donald Farrell at Olathe, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 14, 1968. She is survived by her two daughters, Dee Ellen Leach of Ottawa, Kan. and Patricia Fleming of Topeka, Kan. ,three sons, Donald David David Farrell of Ottawa, Kan., Douglas Doug Farrell of Ottawa, Kan. , Kenneth Ken Farrell of Fort Worth, Texas. SERVICE: Family and friends will meet 2:00 PM Monday, December 30, 2002 at Wellsville Cemetery, Wellsville, Kansas for Graveside services. OFFICIANT: Don Scott IN STATE: Mrs. Farrell will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 5:00 PM Friday to 12:00 noon Monday, where the family will meet with friends from 3:00 to 4:00 Sunday evening.
