Novella Faye King

Faye King, 91 of Pomona, passed away Friday, February 22, 2019, at Rock Creek of Ottawa. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 6:30 P.M. to 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, February 26th at the mortuary. Private interment will be held later at Oak Hill Cemetery Quenemo, Kansas. Faye was born December 25, 1927, in Lyndon, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur R. and Gladys May (Uhl) Larson. She lived in Osage County, Kansas until moving to Franklin County in 1946 living on the same farm for sixty-five years. Faye attended Vassar Grade School and graduated from Quenemo High School with the class of 1946. Faye was united in marriage to Philip H. King August 17, 1947, at Ottawa. He preceded her in death on September 1, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Gladys Larson; son, Stephen King; brothers, Marlin Larson, Gerald Larson and Jack Larson; and sisters, Melba Larson, Marjory “Margy” Evans and Leota Helmeck. Survivors include children, Joe King of Pomona, Tom King and wife Linda also of Pomona, and Karla King of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Caleob King of Williamsburg, Julie Yocum and husband Josh of Appanoose, and Becki Polen of Lawrence; and six great-grandchildren, Elliot Polen, Brett Polen, Reid Polen, Noah King, Gideon King, and Nick Pollot. Faye was a homemaker and had several jobs outside the home throughout her life. She was a member of the Appanoose Baptist Church; Pomona Chapter No. 305 Order of the Eastern Star, and later Union Chapter No 15 Order of the Eastern Star of Ottawa; the Ottawa Assembly #136, Social Order of the Beauceant, Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5901 Auxiliary in Ottawa, and several women’s groups in the community. Faye enjoyed dancing, playing cards and above all, spending time with her family. The family suggests memorial contributions to Appanoose Baptist Church c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
