Nova E. Homrighausen

Nova Ellen Keeton Homrighausen age 101 of Paola, passed away Thursday evening July 14, 2011 at North Point Skilled Nursing Center in Paola. She was born Nov. 18, 1909 in rural Miami County, KS, the daughter of Charley E. and Ada G. Weaver Keeton. She grew up in the Paola area and attended Paola High School, graduating in 1928. She attended Business College in Kansas City and then worked for Grolier Society for 2 " years helping put her brother Elvin through College until she and Louis G. Homrighausen were married in Kansas City, MO on Feb 25, 1932. They made their home on a farm East of Paola and became the parents of 6 children. Mrs. Homrighausen attended church in Wagstaff while growing up, then Zion Evangelical Church in the Highland community after her marriage. After Highland Evangelical Church dissolved she later became a member of First Presbyterian Church in Paola, later following to the Lighthouse Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Homrighausen was very active in farming with her husband and loved caring for and spending time with her children. She was active in Highland Ladies Aid, 4-H, Presbyterian Women, and enjoyed music, playing the piano, quilting, sewing and seamstressing. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 31, 1987, her oldest daughter Ila Gillogly on July 1, 2010, and an infant daughter at birth in 1943. Others preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Elvin E. Keeton and Harley Keeton, and a sister, Zeila E. Block. On March 3, 2000 Nova moved from her rural home to Vintage Park in Paola due to her health and then to North Point in March 2011, again for health reasons. She is survived by 2 daughters with husbands Helen & Neil Blakeman of Paola and Freda & Gary Bloomberg of Ft. Collins, CO, 2 sons with wives Lester & Laura Homrighausen of Centerville and Harold & Marva Homrighausen of Paola, 11 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Lighthouse Presbyterian Church Paola,KS, Macular Degeneration, Grace Hospice or to Miami County Cancer Society.
