Norman L. Watts

Norman L. Watts, 83, of Centropolis, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2015, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 24, at the mortuary. Interment Union Cemetery, Douglas County, Kansas. Norman was born Thursday, June 2, 1932, in Michigan Valley, Kansas, the son of Sample “Samp” and Arietta (Decker) Watts. A lifelong Franklin County resident, Norman lived in Centropolis for 60 years. He attended Minneola and Appanoose schools. Norman was united in marriage with Adeline “Pud” Myers May 6, 1951, in Centropolis, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his three children, Oleta Dennison and husband Jim of Centropolis, Barry Lee Watts and wife Linda of Centropolis, and Cindy Walkup and husband Dennis of Pomona; siblings, Floyd Watts and wife Patty of Ottawa, Alva Watts and wife Connie of Mt. View, Missouri, Dottie Miller of Ottawa, and Eva Kay Myers and husband George of Ottawa; five grandchildren, Brandon Dennison, Lyndsie Snook and husband Cody, Megan Haney, Ryan Haney, and Ben Gibler, and six great-grandchildren. He worked hauling milk for many years, was a delivery driver for Sky Hook in Ottawa, and was an owner/operator of Bee Line Trailer Sales. He was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Ottawa. Norman enjoyed dancing with his wife at Harris and Paola. He was a family man who cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He loved horses, watching old western movies and was known for his great sense of humor.
