Norman Joseph Horne, age 90, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Thursday, February 11, 2010. He was born on Sunday, May 18, 1919, in Melvern, Kansas. He was the son of Robert W. and Cora E. (Bebe) Horne. He was a resident of Ottawa since 1951, moving from Agricola, Kansas. Norman attended school in Melvern. He worked on a farm until 1951. The following thirty-one years, he was a commercial and heavy construction worker, retiring in May of 1982. He was a member of Laborers’ Local Union #1290 of Kansas City, Kansas, since December of 1951. On Friday, December 7, 1951, Norman was united in marriage with Evelyn J. Shirley in Lyndon, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is survived by his: Wife-Evelyn J. Horne of their home; Daughter-Phyllis Johnson of Ottawa, Kansas; Daughter-Janet Miner and her husband, John, of Anaheim, California; Son-Joe Horne and his wife, Lora, of Princeton, Kansas; Son-Daniel Horne and his wife, Carolyn, of Branson, Missouri; Daughter-Connie Leal and her husband, Randy, of Utica, Illinois; Daughter-Kathy Kaub and her husband, David, of Ottawa, Kansas; Son-Michael Horne and his wife, Robin, of Ottawa, Kansas; Sister-Dora Mae Thortis of Plano, Texas; Thirty-one grandchildren; Twenty-eight great-grandchildren; One great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his: Parents-Robert W. and Cora E. Horne; Brother-Arnel Horne, Brother-Ralph Horne, Brother-Robert Horne, Jr., Brother-Donal Horne; Sister-Thelma Horne, Sister-Norma Horne; Grandchild-Joshua Horne, Grandchild-Kristina Vega. SERVICES: Cremation is planned. Graveside Inurnment Services will be held at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2010. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
