Norman D. Peek

October 3, 1938 — December 9, 2003

Norman D. Peek was born October 3, 1938, at Topeka, Kansas. He was the son of Charles Oscar Peek and Helen Gould (Smith) Peek. He was raised in Topeka, moving to Perry in 1967. In 1973 he moved to Pomona, where he made his home until his death Tuesday, December 9, 2003, at the age of sixty-five years. Norman graduated from Highland Park High School with the class of 1956. At the age of nine, Norman began work in a grocery store to help his family pay bills. From 1953 to 1967, he worked for Falley's Grocery. He also worked for Quaney & Eylander Grocery and Herald Reeser Gas Station. In 1967, he purchased his own business, known as Peek's Super Saver. The business was located in Perry the first six years. He moved his business to Pomona in 1973, taking an early retirement in 1993, due to his health. He was a member of Pomona United Methodist Church, McKinley Lodge #41, Pomona and Pomona Lions Club. Norman loved his job and would work tirelessly to give his customers the best in everyway he could. When he was away from the store he loved fishing. It was his favorite thing to do on his free time. He also enjoyed traveling the country and planting flowers in the spring. Norman also loved the Lord. He had a very strong faith and it was evident in the way he lived his life. Most dear to his heart was his family. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren in the pool. Every moment he had with his family was special to him and everyone in his family was very special to him. On March 30, 1962, Norman was united in marriage with Joan Bunce at Topeka, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is also survived by two daughters, Cyndi Grimes of Pomona, Kansas, Pamela Kraus, of Quenemo, Kansas; two sisters, Joann Burgen of Lawrence, Kansas, Judith Lucille Pickens of Osage City, Kansas; and, eight grandchildren, Trenton Kraus, Gerrad Hutchison, Holden Kraus, Dalen Kraus, Shelby Richardson, Whitney Kraus, Drexel Grimes, and Kennz. He is preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Richard 'Bill' Peek, Robert Eugene
