Norma Jean Kerr

January 14, 1940 — March 27, 2019

Norma Jean Kerr, 79, of Wellsville, KS, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and prayers of her family, on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at Olathe Medical Center. She was born Norma Moldenhauer, January 14, 1940, to Clarence and Lois Moldenhauer, in Franklin County, KS. She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1958, then attended cosmetology school in Kansas City. On May 29, 1960 she married her high school sweetheart, Darrell Kerr. Norma and Darrell had three children, Darla, Denise, and Darien. Norma loved entertaining and bringing her family together. Finding photos of her is difficult because she was always the one behind the camera, documenting our lives. She loved telling stories and bragging on all of her "kids". Baking for others was a gift she shared freely, and she was known for her delicious apple pies. Being a wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma was the great joy of her life. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lois Moldenhauer and son-in-law, David Lowe. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Kerr; three children, Darla Buckley (Sharon), Denise Lowe, and Darien Kerr (Deana); nine grandchildren, Seth Buckley (Jackie), Jordan Buckley (Michelle), Noah Buckley, Tim Lowe (Kandie), Derick Lowe, Brittany Dorman (Jason), Nick Lowe (Rachel), Dalton Kerr, and Rylee Kerr; 7 plus great grandchildren; and too many friends to count. She was loved well. A party in celebration of Norma's life will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 3:00 PM at the Wellsville Baptist Church Family Life Center, 217 Main Street, Wellsville. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Norma Kerr Hospitality Improvement Memorial Fund, in care of the Wellsville Baptist Church. "We go on, because it's all we can do. We keep going if for no other reason than they would want us to." Frederick Buechner
