Norma Jean Isham, age 87, passed away Friday at North Point Skilled Nursing Facility. (Cremation) Norma Jean was born in Paola on July 11, 1927 to Ernest Albert Koelsch and Beulah Conine Koelsch. She attended school in Paola and graduated from PHS. On August 14, 1946, she and Nelce Isham married and had one child, Monty Lee. Jean and her sister, Mildred Lee (deceased), were administrators of the White House Nursing Home for many years. Jean later became a cosmetologist and opened Marie's Shampoo Bowl, from which she later retired. Jean had a mischievous, outgoing personality. She enjoyed having a beer and playing cards, she once tipped over the pontoon boat on the family pond, would dance on a table if she felt like it, and most recently gave an "up yours" gesture to a doctor. She was fun-loving and spent a lot of her time socializing with friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nelce Isham, and son, Monty. She is survived by many nieces and nephews; great and great-great nieces and nephews; and one great grandnephew. Jean was also blessed with a very dear friend, Jim Dees, who devoted much of his time keeping her company. Memorial contributions may be given to Paola Christian Church.
