Norma Jeanne (Antone) Geiss, 93, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at her home after a prolonged illness. Family will meet with friends from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M, Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 2:00 P.M., at the mortuary. Interment Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Norma was born Wednesday, November 26, 1924 in Ottawa, the daughter of George W. and Anna (Teter) Antone. She attended Lincoln Elementary in Ottawa and Emery Green rural school east of Ottawa. She graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1942. In 1946, she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice from the University of Kansas. On December 25, 1945, she married Glenn Geiss in Ottawa. He preceded her in death in 2001. Survivors include her two daughters, Anne Delse and husband Frederick of Santa Rosa, California, and Susan Geiss of Ottawa; son, David A. Geiss and wife Melanie of Merriam; three grandchildren, Frederick D. Delse and wife Nikki of Honolulu, Hawaii, Katherine (Delse) Mardirous of Santa Rosa, California, and Abbey Geiss of Anaheim, California; and three great-grandchildren, Evan Delse and Ian Kai Delse of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Alexander Mardirous of Santa Rosa, California. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Anna Antone; brother, George H. “Bud” Antone; and daughter, Jean Geiss. Norma was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. From 1954 to 1976, she and her husband owned and operated a motel southwest of Ottawa. She was a member and former volunteer of the Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Norma was also a member of the Franklin County Historical Society and an 80-year member of the First United Methodist Church of Ottawa. Norma was also proud of her service as a volunteer Red Cross nurse’s aide at both Ransom Memorial and Lawrence Memorial hospitals during World War II. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Franklin County Historical Society or the Jean Geiss Memorial Nursing Scholarship at the University of Kansas School of Nursing c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
