Norma Stewart-Korbe, age 84, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Monday, June 28, 2010. She was born on Thursday, September 3, 1925, in Ottawa, the daughter of Albert Farris and Bertha Almeda (Smith) Stewart. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin County. Norma graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1943, and attended one year at Ottawa University. From 1950 to 1996, she was owner and manager of the Credit Bureau of Ottawa forty-five years, retiring on December 31, 1995. On week-ends, she helped at the Franklin County Sales Company, which was run by her parents. Since 1939, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa, where she worked on numerous committees and sang in the church choir. She was also a member of United Methodist Women Hope Circle; lifetime member of Credit Women International; Historical Society of Ottawa; and volunteered at the Old Depot Museum of Ottawa. She is survived by: Niece-Judy Scott of Gardner, Kansas; Niece-Donna Wiliker of Fresno, California; Five-Great Nephews; Two-Great Nieces; Thirteen Gt. Gt. Nieces & Nephews-and Many Cousins. She is preceded in death by her: Father-Albert Farris “Chuck” Stewart; Mother-Bertha Almeda (Smith)Stewart;Brother-Harold M. Stewart; Brother-Glenn A. Stewart; Sister-Geneva Stewart and Nephew-Larry Stewart. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2010. IN STATE: Mrs. Korbe will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday until the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 10:00 to 11:00 Thursday morning.
