Norbert "Bob" Koechner

Norbert R. (Bob) Koechner, age 92, of Stilwell, KS, passed peacefully on April 1, 2019 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday April 5, 2019 at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church Wea, Bucyrus, KS, with the Rosary prayed at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial to follow in Queen of the Holy Rosary Cemetery with military honors provided by the Louisburg VFW post 7348 and American Legion Post 250. Bob was born in Tipton, MO September 19, 1926 to Joseph and Lela Koechner. He served in the United States Navy in the construction battalion (Seabees) in World War II as well as the Korean War. He eventually moved to the Stilwell area in 1949 and worked for a construction company. He was married to Marjorie Woltkamp, January 7, 1950. In 1953 he purchased the Stilwell Oil Company from Harry & Mary Woltkamp and has been serving the surrounding area since that time. Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Marjorie and eldest son, Steve. He is survived by his special friend Lorna Meyers, son, Mike, of Denver, CO, son, Gene (Linda) of Paola, KS, son, Ken (Donna) of Fontana, KS, son, Scott (Beth) of Louisburg, KS, daughter, Patricia of Hallandale, Florida, son, Alan (Jenny) Cedar Rapids, IA. 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Virgil Koechner of Tipton, MO, Della Mallen of Plattsburg, Mo and Jim Koechner of O’Fallon, MO. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials to the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery Fund.
