Nola M. Owens, 84, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, at Rock Creek of Ottawa. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 14, 2022, at LifeMission Church, 16111 S. Lone Elm Rd., Olathe, Kansas, 66063. A private inurnment will be held later in Lincoln, Missouri. She was born July 2, 1937, in Warsaw, Missouri, the daughter of Harvey and Lucille (Kullman) Yount. Nola lived in Warsaw, Sweet Springs, Kansas City and Malden, all in Missouri before moving to Ottawa, Kansas in 2014. She attended Feaster Elementary School in Warsaw, Missouri and high school in Sweet Springs, Missouri. Nola attended church at Kansas City Temple for twenty-five years. On Sunday, May 26, 1957, Nola was united in marriage with Loran E. “Ed” Owens at Marshall, Missouri. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Lucille Yount; stepfather, Homer Yount and her sister, Etheldred Robinett. Nola is survived by her daughters, Blenda Ricketts and her husband, John of Ottawa, Kansas and Marie Wright and her husband, Ted of Raymore, Missouri; three grandchildren, Amanda (Shawn) King of Ottawa, Teddy (Lyndzi) Wright of Raymore, Missouri, and Amy (Daniel) Hodo of Ottawa; and six great grandchildren, David Hodo, Asher King, Alex Hodo, Aidan Daniels, Daxon King, and Chevelle Wright. sisters, Lela Merrell-Savage of Sedalia, Missouri and Phyllis Robinett of Raymore, Missouri; brothers, Vincin Yount of Gravois Mills, Missouri, Danny Yount of Lexington, Missouri and David Yount of Nelson, Missouri; brother-in-law, Charles (Sharon) Owens of Wellington, Missouri; sister-in-law, Linda (David) Hayes of Marshall, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. She was a homemaker and worked as a home health aide. Nola enjoyed cooking (never left her table hungry), camping, fishing, being with her family and friends, embroidery, and drag racing her 1969 Road Runner. She was also a campground host at various Missouri State Parks. The family wishes to thank the staff and many friends at Rock Creek who loved and cared for our mom.
