Nina Mary (Roberts) Dixon, 90, Ottawa, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at Village Plaza, Ottawa. Cremation is planned with no services at this time. She was born Wednesday, Dec. 25, 1918, at Wichita to John Orson and Alma May (Palmer) Roberts. She lived in Wichita until she was 4, when she moved to the Garnett area. She also lived in Lawrence soon after her marriage. She moved to Ottawa in 1956. She attended rural schools in her elementary years and graduated from Garnett High School in 1940. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Union Chapter No. 15, Order of the Eastern Star, both of Ottawa. She was a homemaker. She worked as a press operator for Sunflower Ordinance Plant from 1951 to 1953. She married Melvin L. Dixon Friday, March 12, 1954, at Lamar, Mo. He preceded her in death on Nov. 29, 2006. Survivors include sons, Gary Dixon, and his wife, Terri, Rantoul, and Larry Dixon, and his wife, Janna, Ottawa; a brother, Virgil Roberts, Iola; and four grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sandra Dixon; a sister, Beatrice Sulouff; and brothers, Orson Roberts and Marvin W. Roberts. Inurnment will be at a later date at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Memorial contributions may be sent to American Legion Baseball, Post No. 60, in care of Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory St., Ottawa KS 66067.
