Nikki Michele Sumner-Lehman was born March 2, 1971, at Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Dennis and Cathy (Kammer) Sumner. Nikki was a lifelong Franklin County and Osage County resident. She grew up in Pomona, moving to Ottawa after graduating from high school. From Ottawa, she moved to Osage City, Kansas, where she made her home, until her death Sunday, November 14, 2004, at the age of thirty-three years. Nikki graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1989, where she was a member of Alateen and played in the band. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Ottawa University in Early Childhood Development. She was employed as an apartment manager for Heatheridge Apartment Complex in Emporia from January of 2003 to present. She previously worked for Santa Fe Place Apartments in Topeka for one year. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Lyndon, Kansas. Nikki was a beautiful, outgoing person with a big heart. She loved helping the elderly and anyone who needed her. Nikki felt privileged to be a mother and loved being with her boys and spending time with her brother. She affectionately called Corey and her youngest son, 'Sunshine'. She enjoyed camping with the kids, walking her dogs, horseback riding, playing video games, and reading. Nikki is survived by her parents of Ottawa; fianc', Kreig Lloyd of Osage City; two sons, Aaron and Tanner Lehman, of the home; brother, Corey Sumner of Ottawa; grandmother, Lois Sumner of Carbondale; friend, Tom Merle of Melvern; father and mother-in-law, Stan and Maxine Lloyd of Quenemo; brother and sister-in-law, Niles and Julie Lloyd of Osage City; and children of Niles and Julie, Rheana and Olivia Lloyd of Osage City. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Robert Sumner, January 1, 1994, and aunt, Sandy Sage, November 14, 2002. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 18, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Niles Lloyd. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Ms. Sumner-Lehman at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
