Nelma Ruth (McClendon) Brown, age 67, of Ottawa, Kan., died Thursday, August 28, 2003, at Select Specialty Hospital in Overland Park, Kan. She was the daughter of the late Toney McClendon and the late Ruby (Firestine) McClendon-Skiles. She moved to the Ottawa area in 1969, moving from the Lawrence area. She was a lifelong homemaker. In the 1970's and early 1980's, she worked as a machine operator for Parmalee Products in Ottawa nine years. On July 15, 1953, Nelma was united in marriage with David H. Brown at Oskaloosa, Kansas. He survives of their home. She is also survived by her Three Daughters, Daughter-Kathy Benson of Ottawa, Kan. Daughter-Beatrice Horn of Ottawa, Kan. Daughter-Laura Brown of Topeka, Kan. Three Sons, Son-David W. Brown of Ottawa, Kan. Son-Thomas Brown of Ottawa, Kan. Son-Bill Brown of Trenton, Ga. One Brother, Brother-Leland McClendon of Lawrence, Kan. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2003. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Dan Oglesby. IN STATE: Mrs. Brown will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, 1 to 9:00 p.m. Monday and after 8:00 a.m. Tuesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 4 to 5:00 p.m. Monday. CEMETERY: Evergreen Mound Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to the Nelma Brown Memorial Fund, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
