Nellie Mae Schull-Haufle, age 90, of Paola, Kansas, passed away Thursday, September 24, 2020, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, September 28, 2020, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS, 66071. Family will meet with friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Another service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Windmill Ridge Funeral Home in California, Missouri followed by burial at the Masonic Cemetery, California, Missouri. Nellie was born Monday, March 17, 1930, in Lupus, MO, the daughter of Herbert L. and Bertha (Small) Brizendine. She was united in marriage to Alvin Schull. They became the parents of five children. Alvin preceded Nellie in death in 1991. She later married Ralph Haufle and he preceded her in death in 2002. She then had a companion Hillery McVey for the last several years. She worked as a nurse's aide. She retired after 25 years with the Miami County Hospital. Nellie enjoyed piecing quilts and embroidery work. She loved country music as well as music from the 70s and 80s and gospel music. One of her favorite places to visit was Meramec Caverns near St. Louis, where she enjoyed listening to gospel singers. Survivors include her children Beverly Jean Nesler (Bill), Larry Schull (Joyce), David Schull (Nancy), and Randy Schull; daughter-in-law Brenda Schull; a sister Velma L. Lear (Stan); 10 grandchildren; and many great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Mark Allen Schull, her parents, a sister Wanda Herman, grandson Ronnie Nesler, and James Chester the husband of Randy Schull.
