Nellie Rose Cox, age 90, of Osage City, Kansas, died Friday, March 1, 2013. She was born on Monday, January 22, 1923, in Williamsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Glenn J. and Rosa E. (Steward) Chambers. She grew up in Williamsburg, Kansas, later moving to Osage City. She graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1941 and later received her degree in education from Mcpherson College. On April 8, 1947 Nellie was united in marriage to Lyle M. Cox in Mound Valley, Kansas. He preceded in her in death on November 9, 2007. She was a devoted homemaker, caregiver and teacher. Nellie was a member of Mt. Pleasant Community Church in Lyndon. She was a Sunday school teacher and also involved in various church activities. Nellie enjoyed traveling with her husband, bird watching and nature. She is survived by her: Son-Melvin Cox and his wife, Janice, of Osage City, Kansas Brother-in-law-Eldon Cox and his wife, Laura, of Nixa, Missouri Grandchildren-Twelve Gt.Grandchildren-Many She is preceded in death by her: Parents-Glenn and Rosa Chambers Husband-Lyle Cox Daughter-Lauretta Jean cox Sister-Daisy Chambers SERVICES: Funeral Services will be held at Mt. Pleasant Community Church in Lyndon, 10:00 A.M. Saturday, March 9, 2013. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Cox at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 A.M. Friday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. Friday.
