Nellie E. Jones, 94, of Louisburg, KS died November 7, 2011 at Louisburg Health and Rehabilitation Center, Louisburg, KS. She was born December 3, 1916 at Louisburg, KS the daughter of Loren and Daisy Belle (Hittle) Kern. She was united in marriage to Orest Devere Jones on November 8, 1939 at Fort Scott, KS. She lived all of her nearly 95 years in the Louisburg Community, being raised at her parent's farm southwest of town. After their marriage, she and Orest made their home on the farm southeast of Louisburg, they moved into town in 1980. Nellie and Orest were a part of the Bellview community. This was a close knit group of neighbors who often gathered at the school there or in each others homes. She was a long time member of the HDU club with most of these same neighbors. Orest and she were leaders for many years in the 4-H club of that area. Both were active members of the First Christian Church of Louisburg. She had many talents-most importantly that of being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker, gardener and wonderful cook. Nellie loved to quilt and worked with the quilting group at the Christian church for many years, besides doing dozens of quilts on her own. She also did oil paintings and many other paint and sewing crafts. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orest of 53 years, her parents, two sisters, Velma Vohs and Lena Hart, seven brothers, Floy, Wayne, Edward, James, Roy, John and Elza Kern. She is survived by her children Ronald Jones and wife Ellen, Louisburg, KS; and Rita Winburn and husband Jerry, Clinton, MO; one sister, Geneva Roecker, Ottawa, KS; Six grandchildren, Colby Jones, Suzanne Heffner, Nanette Mills, Andrew Jones, Shane Winburn and Cody Winburn. Six Great Grandchildren, Gavin and Hannah Winburn, Lily and Nicholas Heffner, David Jones and Everett Mills. The family suggests memorial contributions to be made to the First Christian Church.
