Nayrea L. “Lea” Reed, 72, of Wellsville, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at Olathe Hospice House. Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Family will meet with friends immediately following the service. Nayrea was born December 23, 1943, in Ottawa, the daughter of Alfred Earl and Nayrea Arlene (Patton) Kohler. She was a lifelong Franklin County resident, residing in Ottawa and Wellsville. She graduated from Wellsville High School with the class of 1961 continuing her education at Flint Hills Technical College in Emporia, graduating in 1974 with an LPN License; St. Mary’s of the Plains in Topeka, graduating in 1991 with an RN License and Director of Nursing License. Lea was united in marriage with Lonie Joe Reed December 18, 1977, in Ottawa. He survives of the home. Other survivors include their seven children, Diana Fowler of Ottawa, Myra Reed of Ottawa, Robert Harris, Jr. of Ottawa, Michelle Hall and husband Rob of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Darin Reed of Oklahoma, Lonie Reed, Jr. and wife Melissa of Leoti, Kansas, and William “Bill” Reed and wife Jonna of Fort Lee, Virginia; two brothers, Bill Kohler of Nevada, Missouri and Bob Kohler and wife Diantha of Belleair, Florida; nineteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Howard Wayne Fowler; and grandson, Joshua Dale Harris. Lea was employed as a nurse working at the following locations over the years, Ransom Memorial Hospital, Overland Park Regional, Olathe Medical Center, and Wellsville Manor. She attended New Hope Baptist Church. Lea enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Canada with her husband in their tractor trailer and by motorcycle. She also enjoyed camping and planting flowers, but above all, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
