Nancy Lee Hull

Nancy Lee Hull was born on Sunday, August 19, 1934, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Lloyd Ashley and Jennie Beatrice (Rearden) Connaway. Nancy grew up in Kansas City, moving with her family to Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas in 1950, where she made her home until her death on Monday, April 18, 2011, at the age of seventy-six years. Nancy attended Benton Grade School, Central Junior, and Senior High School in Kansas City. She was a devoted homemaker. Nancy was a member of First United Methodist Church; Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901 Auxiliary, serving as Treasurer for twenty years; and past president of Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, all of Ottawa. Nancy was a talented artist who created many beautiful paintings for her family and friends to cherish. For several years, she enjoyed owning a ceramic shop. Nancy’s greatest enjoyment came from caring for her family, preparing lovely dinners, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On Friday, December 24, 1954, Nancy was united in marriage with David Francis Hull in Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1993. She is also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Alice Pratt, Mildred Connaway; and two brothers, Robert C. Connaway and Joe A. Connaway. Nancy is survived by two sons, David Stephen Allen Hull and Donna Osborn, of Ottawa, Robert Christopher Hull and his wife, Dianna, of Ottawa; daughter, Jana Lloy Carey and her husband, Mark, of Ottawa; two sisters, Beatrice Arlene “Betty” Ewbank of Ottawa, Thelma Mae Honeycutt and her husband, Bob, of Ottawa; nine grandchildren, Justin Carey and his wife, Jennifer, Nicholas Carey and his wife, Chelsea, Andrew Carey, Chad Hull and his wife, Andrea, Eric Hull and his wife, Mallory, Sean Hull, Jennie Marie (Hull) Setili and her husband, Evan, Katie Ann Hull, Kelsie Lynn Hull; and seven great-grandchildren, Hannah Carey, Landon Carey, Haley Hull, Haydon Hull, Michael Hull, Payton Hull, and Caitlyn Hull. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, 2011. IN STATE: Mrs. Hull will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorial contributions to V.F.W. Auxiliary, for cancer aid and research, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
