Nancy Ferguson, 72, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, November 28, 2020, at University of Kansas Health System. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Ottawa Memorial Auditorium, Ottawa, Kansas. Visitation and internment at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas after the service. Nancy was born April 30, 1948 in Duncan, Oklahoma the daughter of Bron and Vivian (Watts) Devin. She was a lifelong Franklin County resident. She graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1966. She was united in marriage to Edward Ferguson Jr., June 17, 1966, in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on October 5, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents, sister, Linda Devin, brothers-in-law, Larry Ferguson and Roger Ferguson. Survivors include her children, Angie Snider (Kirby), Julie Bunce (Dale), Mike Ferguson (Jill), all of Ottawa; brothers, Dennis Devin (Stella) of Quenemo, Dale Devin (Jennifer) of Michigan Valley, Norman Devin of Pomona; in-laws, Fred Ferguson (Marlene), Miriam Ferguson, Camilla Ferguson all of Ottawa and Bill Ferguson (Rhonda) of Pomona; thirteen grandchildren, Drew Peoples (Cory), Luke Snider, Kate Ferguson, Max Ferguson, Jake Matney, Dylan Matney, Cole Bunce, Kati Bunce, Riley Bunce, Jordan Bunce, Justin Bunce (Amanda), Meggan Scott (Brad) and Lacey Blount (Kevin) and seven great grandchildren. Although Nancy endured major health issues for over 40 years, she had the strongest will to live and she lived it fully. She was Always Loved, Always Loving. She was always caring for others. She loved her kids and grandkids like no other and anyone who needed to be loved. She is absolutely the most selfless person you will meet: helping the underdog, cheering on those who needed encouragement and support, always a positive can do attitude and always on the go! She has lifelong and new relationships she cherished and always had a full calendar. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, playing cards, and most recently took up square dancing. She especially loved cooking for family dinners, planning family vacations and attending family and other social events, including her lunch groups and Joker Geezer Gals. She rarely missed any activities of her grandchildren’s (or kids of other family or friends). Nancy served as a paraprofessional starting in 1979 with USD 290 special services, retiring in 1997. Working with children to help them reach their full potential was a passion. She was a member of the Grace Community Church in Ottawa and participated in bible studies. She served on the Board of AdventHealth Ottawa Foundation and was a former president and volunteer of the AdventHealth Ottawa Auxiliary since 2001 with over 3500 volunteer hours. She served on many committees and held various leadership roles. She primarily worked in the hospital gift shop. She was awarded the 2019 Volunteer of the Year award.
