Nancy D. Hunter, 80, of Louisburg, Kansas passed away November 1, 2017, surrounded by her family. Nancy was born July 2, 1937, in Kansas City, Kansas. She was the youngest child of Leonard D. Myers, and Eva M. Justice Myers. She graduated from Turner High School. Nancy worked as a secretary for Universal Life Insurance, where she met her husband John. She also, worked for the United States Postal Service, and she managed Casey’s General Store, in Paola. She was united in marriage to John E. Hunter, on January 24, 1964, in Miami Oklahoma. She had five children, but most important to her were her 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Nancy had a green thumb. She loved gardening, and always had an abundance of plants and flowers. Her love of flowers filled her yard wherever she lived. Her family and friends will always remember the beauty of the flowers surrounding her home. Nancy loved Christmas. She was an avid collector of Hallmark Ornaments. She decorated every room in her home, and always had multiple Christmas trees. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, John E. Hunter, her parents, brothers Leonard Myers, Harold Myers, sister Lorna Stober, and 3 great grandchildren. Nancy is survived by her children, Lorna McCoy (Randy), Paola, Orlin Heady (Wanda), Centerville, John Hunter, Paola, Michelle Hamlin (Jeff), Paola, Kristi Hinote (Steve), Osawatomie. Grandchildren, Joni Sampel (Clayton), Denna Jones (Chris), Adam Martin (Erica), Wade Heady, Nathan Hunter, John Hamlin (Whitney), Kaitlynn Valadez (Mateo), Emilee Edwards (Chance). Great grandchildren, Damien, Samuel, Abigail, Tanna, Chylar, Max, Marcus, Aniyah, and Kayuana. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Paola, Kansas. She loved singing the old hymns, and passed this love on to her daughters. Services will be at Dengel and Son Mortuary, in Paola. Visitation will be Monday November 6, 2017, from 10-11 am. Her funeral will be at 11 am. Burial will be in Stanton Cemetery. The family would like to express their gratitude for the compassionate, loving care provided to their mother during her illness. Words could never convey how much the Great Lakes Caring staff means to them. They would also like to acknowledge the Louisburg Healthcare and Rehab staff. Thank you for loving and caring for our mother the last two years. Thank you for the stories you’ve shared. We will all miss her singing, and whistling.
