Nadine Graham

Nadine R. Graham, age 92 of Hillsdale, KS passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at the Olathe Medical Center. Nadine was born on October 7, 1917 in Wellsville, KS to Vern and Oleita Altic Knoop. She graduated from Paola High School in 1935. On April 25, 1937 she was united in marriage to Elden Graham in Ottawa, KS. They made their home in Miami County where they raised three children. She served on the Scotts Valley Township Board for 50 years and the Hillsdale Cemetery Board for over 20 years. Nadine taught in the local country schools, helped her husband with their gas station, and then worked for the Smith Garment Factory as a seamstress, retiring in 1977. She enjoyed reading, sewing, being involved with township committees, and spending time with family and friends. Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one daughter, Oleita. Survivors are her daughter, Mary Lou Hayden of Hillsdale; son, Roger Graham of Gulf Breeze, FL, sisters; Vernice Cox of Topeka and Maxine Barber of Paola; half-brother, Vern Knoop of California; half-sister, Gwendola Ward of California; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
