N. Louann Hoopes, 83, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Northland Rehab and Health Care Center, Kansas City, Missouri.
Visitation will be held 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Dengel & Son Mortuary – Ottawa, 235 S Hickory St, Ottawa, Kansas 66067. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will be held at Peoria Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
Louann was born on Tuesday, November 5, 1940, in Ottawa, Kansas. She was one of four daughters of Ernest “Ernie” Fredrick and Phoebe Mae (Williams) Lowrance. She grew up and attended Ottawa schools. She met her future husband, Charles “Chuck” Hoopes, while attending high school. Louann graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1958.
She and Chuck were married on Friday, December 5, 1958, at the Union Chapel United Methodist Church, in Ottawa, Kansas. They lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Riverside, Missouri, until they made their home in Kansas City, Missouri, for the last 60 years. Together they had three children, Valerie, Ronald, and Vicki. They were happily married for 61 years. Chuck preceded her in death on May 5, 2020.
Louann was an active member of the Avondale Untied Methodist Church in Kansas City, for over 60 years. She also served on the Eastwood PTA while her children attended school.
Louann enjoyed the Kansas City Royals and Chief’s, collecting Beanie Babies, going to garage sales, and reading. In her earlier years, she enjoyed lake trips to Pomona Lake and Table Rock Lake with her family and would often water ski. Louann also loved to garden, and always had beautiful flowers and vegetables. She always found ways to keep herself busy, relaxing by way of the Game Show Network, and could always be found with a smile on her face. Louann was caring, kind, and very supportive of her family. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.
Louann is preceded in death by her husband of 61 Years, Chuck Hoopes; parents, Ernest and Phoebe Lowrance; and brothers-in-law, Darrell Sieg, Larry Lemon, and Martin Floyd.
Survivors include three children, Valerie (John) Healy, Ronnie Hoopes, and Vicki Lindsay, six grandchildren, Krystol Lindsay, Erica (Bobby) Berry, Lacy Lindsay, Tiffany Lindsay, Cassie Healy, and Jessica (Mike) Tracy; six great grandchildren, Savannah Lindsay, Halee Berry, Gracie Lindsay, Haden Berry, Ava Davis, and Brett Breitling; three sisters, Lavonne Lemon, Rebecca Lowrance Floyd, and Jill Sieg, as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made payable to Avondale United Methodist Church, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S Hickory Street, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
