Myrna Rose Stoneking was born on Saturday, February 21, 1931, in Climax, Kansas. She was the daughter of Roy and Myrtle I. (Neal) Brown. Myrna lived in Burnt Prairie, Illinois, moving to Ottawa, Kansas, in 1967. In 1973, she moved to Pomona, in Franklin County, Kansas, where she made her home, until her death on Friday, December 23, 2005, at the age of seventy-four years. Myrna attended Pomona High School, later earning a G.E.D. She worked as office manager for Bennett Creamery-Mid-America Dairymen from 1968 to 1989. Myrna was a member of Pomona United Methodist Church and Republican Women of Franklin County. In her younger years, she was a certified Red Cross Lifeguard, which she really enjoyed. Myrna was a lovely lady who cherished her family. She was always happy to help anyone who needed her. She was a kind person who loved cats and dogs. Myrna liked the water and loved to swim. In 1948, Myrna was united in marriage with Edward Crooks. They were later divorced. In June of 1969, she was united in marriage with Gilbert Stoneking in Ottawa. He survives of their home. She is also survived by four sons, David Crooks and his wife, Martha, of Ottawa, Jeffery Crooks and his wife, Sheila, of Higbee, Missouri, Robert Crooks and his wife, Ivory, of Pomona, J. B. Stoneking of Higbee; daughter, Jayme Lea Stoneking of the home, stepson, Jeffery Stoneking of Pomona; two stepdaughters, Laury Stoneking of Eudora, Kansas, Jean Roberts and her husband, Mark, of Lawrence, Kansas; brother, Archie Lewis of Salina, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, Roy Brown; mother, Myrtle I. (Neal) Brown-Lewis; and stepfather, John W. Lewis. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2005. IN STATE: Mrs. Stoneking will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Monday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Monday evening. CEMETERY: Woodlawn Cemetery in Pomona, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Pomona United Methodist Church or Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
