Myrna Amelia Farris joined our Lord Jesus Christ in eternal life on Friday February 20,2015. She was 101. A graveside service was held Wednesday February 25, 2015 at Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin County, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents Harve L. and Alma McClure, a sister Thyra McClure Baird and husband Dr. Merle L. Farris DVM. She is survived by her daughter Shari Farris Bolesta, son in law Michael J. Bolesta MD and grandson Michael J. Bolesta II. Myrna graduated from Kansas State University where she met her husband. During WWII she worked at Pratt and Whitney in Kansas City where she trained hundreds of employees to make precision aviation parts for the war effort. After WWII she and Merle made their home in Morristown, Tennessee where Merle joined Dr. S.B. Isbell in a veterinary practice. Myrna helped organize and was the first president of the Auxiliary of the Tennessee Veterinary Medical Association. She co-founded the Morristown Civic Music Association and served as vice president of the Tennessee division of the American Cancer Society. She was president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #52 and was board member and secretary of the United Way of Hamblen County. Myrna served as a trustee to the board of Morristown-Hamblen hospital. Other civic activities included Eastern Star, The Humane Society, League of Women Voters and the Central Services Board of Directors. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Morristown and served in the choir, was a leader of the 6-year-old class for many years, was president of WMU, and was church Clerk for several years. She loved God and lived her faith 24/7. In retirement she and Merle travelled extensively all over the world. She was a devoted wife and mother and lived her motto: “Service to others is the rent we pay for the space we occupy.” The family suggests memorial contributions to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
