Murney Marie Showalter, age 91 of Ottawa, Kansas, died peacefully with her family by her side Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Ransom Memorial Hospital. She was born on Wednesday, September 7, 1921 in Williamsburg, Kansas, the daughter of Albert Fredrick and Bonnie Sarah (Mozley) Hart. Murney was a lifelong resident of Franklin County moving to Ottawa in 1946. She graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1939. On October 7, 1939 Murney was united in marriage to Harold J. Showalter in Lawrence, Kansas. He preceded her in death on October 29, 1986. Murney worked in the bakery for Pence IGA in Ottawa from1972 to 1990 until it became Ray’s IGA. Murney loved her family and always put them first. She had a great sense of humor, enjoyed collecting antiques and taking short trips to the Ozarks, Nashville and seeing the shows in Branson. She was a member and past president of the Eagles Auxiliary #2700. She is survived by her: Son – Gary Showalter and wife Jane of Prairie Village, Kansas Son – Martin Showalter and wife Liz of Lindsborg, Kansas Daughter – Jan Becker and husband Bernie of Tempe, Arizona Eight grandchildren Ten great-grandchildren She is preceded in death by her: Son – Barry Showalter Grandson – Strider Showalter Parents – Albert and Bonnie Hart Brother – Gene Hart Half Sister – Ava Theobald SERVICES: Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 26, 2013 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Williamsburg, Kansas. VISITATION: Family will meet with friends at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 26, 2013.
